When I was a child, I used to think that paper has a mother too. I ever asked my mother what was his mother’s last name. She told me it’s ‘xie xie’ (thank you), the same as her last name ‘xie’. Now my one-year old son likes playing with paper too, so I told him the same old story. Whenever he wants to rip off a piece of paper, I would stop him and tell him: ‘the paper will cry if you tear it apart, and also his mother won’t be able to find him. So if you don’t want to play with him any more, you have to say “xiexie” and then his mother will bring him home.’

With the development of media diversity, people say that the print media has started to wither. Indeed many magazines no longer exist. Such a situation is very frustrating. I think that is why a reader who attended BranDTalk, wished us to insist on publishing BranD. In fact, I don’t think the prospect of printing, paper and publishing industry is worrying. Of course the market is shrinking, but meanwhile there are stricter requirements for all our partners, including ourselves. For example, our editors would spend half a day comparing different design works, trying to be sure that they make the right choice. BranD and all our partners are moving on every day. I think it’s a new beginning for printing, paper and publishing industry. They must reevaluate their products, service, and then user’s experience... Isn’t this great news for us? As a magazine, we must cherish each page we published, as it took us a lot of thinking to decide which paper to use for each issue. If the content is not exciting enough, leaving the page blank could be another kind of beauty, but any way I think all the readers prefer to read the content.

If ‘paper’ is a human, I will care about his feelings, cherish him and try our best to make BranD better and better, because I hope people can feel the world of paper. It’s a happy experience when touching the paper. At the end of 2015, I really want to express my sincere gratitude to all the partners of BranD. Thank you very much!
