Finding the latest digital possibility for reading and communication design

Reading, as one of the most important ways to receive information, now varies with social changes. From the initial reading on traditional paper to now popular reading on electronic screens, the development of reading behaviour reflects the revolution with social and human significance brought by communication design, such as font design, interface design and interactive design. In a sense, the advancement of communication design also affects the human reading behaviour.

Ryan K.L. Jiang

As the Creative Director of the Institute of Creative Communications (ICC, HK& UK, iccworld.org) and the Executive Editor-in-chief of BranD magazine, Ryan is a Creative Media Specialist who has been working with international organisations including, BBC, Guardian, Venice Biennale Art Exhibitions, Basel Art, Wallpaper* Magazine , and Phaidon around Europe, China and Greater China area.
With the MA degree in Radio from Goldsmiths College, University of London, he currently hosts (in ICC Prince Hills Centre, Guangzhou) researches over medium of Art and design, new media art, medium for publishing, curating new media art, interaction design for creative message, sound as medium for art and experiences, journalism for Art and design and marketing for Creative Businesses. His research projects output regular contents and direction for international media publications including futurist art news service Artsandgadgets.com, online gallery service The Curator Project and International Cross-communication design Bi-monthly BranD and etc.

Ricky Chun

Ricky has been part of the Monotype family since 1992, when he joined subsidiary China Type Design Ltd. as an engineer. In that role, he developed PostScript®-compatible font programs and in-house production tools. Since then, Ricky has held positions in sales, marketing, technical support, and product development, eventually serving as managing director of China Type Design when it was fully acquired by Monotype in 2006. He holds BSc, BE, and master’s degrees in engineering science from the University of New South Wales in Australia.


 

René Chen

Starting out as a graphic designer in Toronto, René has solidly worked her way up the design ladder until she was named the art director in several well established graphic design companies in Hong Kong. René has since accumulated over 12 years of professional experience in the industry. In 2007, René took on a new challenge by moving to mainland China to join Interbrand Shanghai to lead the creative team for the consumer brand team.
Over the years, René has studied and lived in several countries around the globe including England, U.S.A., Canada and Italy. She obtained her first degree in Graphic Design from Sheridan College Canada. She also holds a Master Degree of Arts in Design from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Since joining Interbrand, René’s clients have included: Wrigley, Mars, PepsiCo, GSK and Fonterra.
Previous clients: Anta, CLP Holdings, Fairton International Group (Max Mara, Bally, Jean Paul Gaultier) Inbev, Kerry Properties Ltd, Unionpay, PCCW, Ritz Carlton, Watsons.
